September, 2008 - Mercy Medical Group makes every effort to ensure you have easy access to flu shots. Flu shots are especially important for small children, seniors, pregnant women and people with chronic medical conditions. Rather than making a doctor appointment, we encourage our patients to get immunized at one of our many convenient Flu Clinics scheduled each fall at various Mercy Medical Group locations.
Who qualifies for flu shots?
Mercy Medical Group has ordered flu vaccine for our High Risk Patients. Below are the recommended patients by the Center of Disease Control and Prevention who should receive flu shots.
People at high risk for complications from the flu, including:
- Children aged 6 months until their 5th birthday
- Pregnant women
- People 50 years of age and older
- People of any age with chronic medical conditions
- People who live in nursing homes and other long term care centers
People who live with or care for those at high risk for complications from flu, including:
- Household contacts of persons at high risk for complications from the flu (see above)
