Neurology expanding to meet growing demand
Mercy Medical Group’s Neurology Department provides Sacramento area residents the outstanding neurological care. “We are committed to providing caring, compassionate and collaborative patient care,” says Alan Shatzel, DO, Head of the Neurology Division of Mercy Medical Group. “Our comprehensive approach and teamwork allows for timely, safe and effective patient-focused care.”
The Mercy Medical Group Neurology division consists of excellent clinicians who specialize in a variety of neurological diagnoses and treatments; including epilepsy, multiple sclerosis, movement disorders, sleep disorders, neuromuscular disease, electrodiagnostic medicine, headache medicine and complex neurovascular disease. Our team includes Edwin Cruz, MD; Hiep Ngo, MD; John Schafer, MD; Alan J. Shatzel, DO; and Peter Skaff, MD. They are joined this summer by three board certified and fellowship-trained neurologists, Karsten Dengel, MD; Marc Lenaerts, MD; and Mohammed Asim Mahmood, MD.
Mercy Medical Group’s Neurology Department provides outpatient consultations at four of our care locations, including Midtown, San Juan and Big Horn. These physicians also provide hospital-based neurology services at Mercy San Juan Medical Center and Mercy General Hospital, as well as professional services at Mercy Sleep Center.
